How the process works in Cardiff
Compare quotes using your registration plate, accept the best offer and confirm collection. A flatbed truck will come to your address at the agreed time. The driver inspects the car, confirms the price, takes the keys and issues your Certificate of Destruction. Payment arrives by bank transfer the same day or the next working day.
Non-running cars, accident-damaged vehicles and cars with no MOT are all collected. There is no requirement to drive the car anywhere. See our full guide: How to scrap a car: step by step.
What will my car fetch for scrap in Cardiff?
Scrap prices in Cardiff are in line with the national average, though they can vary slightly depending on how many dealers are actively collecting in your area at any given time. The main factors are your car's weight and the current price of steel. A large estate or SUV will fetch more than a small city car. The catalytic converter also adds value — do not remove it before collection.
For a detailed breakdown of pricing, see our guide: How much is my scrap car worth?
Is scrapping a car in Wales any different?
The process is identical to scrapping a car in England. The main regulatory difference is that ATFs in Wales are regulated by Natural Resources Wales rather than the Environment Agency, but this makes no practical difference to the vehicle owner. You still receive a Certificate of Destruction, still notify the DVLA, and still receive payment by bank transfer. All dealers in our Cardiff network are properly authorised.
